East LA Revue Joe Battan

Joe Bataan, born Bataan Nitollano on November 15, 1942, is a legendary Latin soul musician known worldwide for his unique sound and cultural influence. Born to a Filipino father and an African American mother, Joe Bataan grew up in East Harlem, New York, where his musical roots were shaped. Over the years, he has built a strong and loyal fan base, particularly on the West Coast, with large followings in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

On May 30, 2010, Joe Bataan and Yvonne Nitollano delivered a memorable live performance at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, California. They were joined by their longtime friend Peter “Chokie” Quintero, who sadly passed away later that year. Musical support was provided by The Latin All-Stars, featuring Ray Poncin, Danny Santillan, and Ray Carrion. The evening also included special appearances by the Kool Katz duo, Art and Kelly Galvan, and comedian Gilbert Esquivel, who brought laughter and energy to the celebration.

The stage was set for a packed house of over 700 fans, eager to dance and relive the music of one of their favorite artists. Joe Bataan led the band while singing and playing keyboards, performing hit after hit in a high-energy, soulful set.

From this concert recording, we have selected nine standout songs:
“Good Old Days,” “When Sunny Gets Blue,” “Gypsy Woman,” “Puerto Rico Me Llama,” “Under the Street Lamp,” “Mujer Mia,” “I Wish You Love,” “My Cloud,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Please enjoy the music and continue to support our musicians, vocalists, and artists, whose talent and dedication keep this music alive.
